Jawhara - Association of Italo-Algerian volunteers
His name is Jawhara, gem, diamond, fashion, among others, to define the city of Algiers, from which most of the non-Italians, from Vice President of the Association. The founders, young Italians and Algerians, have long been committed to training, experience and passion, in the dissemination and implementation of good pratiche interculturali per una migliore convivenza tra la comunità maghrebina (e in generale immigrata) e quella italiana, considerano infatti l’intercultura o meglio la “transcultura”, una pietra preziosa, una ricchezza, una risorsa da proteggere e diffondere e a cui ispirarsi.
Proprio nel 2008, anno europeo del dialogo interculturale, è stata costituita l'Associazione JAWHARA con l’obiettivo non solo di formare i nativi, ma in prima battuta di accogliere i migranti, con particolare attenzione maghrebini, in Italia e a Torino, al fine di abbattere i "muri" del pregiudizio e dell'ignoranza e creare "ponti" che uniscano.
JAWHARA è al suo primo mese di vita e avvierà, al più presto, le seguenti iniziative:
1) un servizio di prima accoglienza attraverso corsi gratuiti di italiano lingua seconda di vari livelli e di cittadinanza e partecipazione attiva alla vita cittadina e non solo, rivolti a stranieri di varia provenienza. A questo si affiancheranno (fondi e risorse umane permettendo) altri due servizi, il primo di accompagnamento e assistenza nello svolgimento delle pratiche burocratiche necessarie per soggiornare regolarmente in Italia, e il secondo di accompagnamento, questa volta, nelle procedure di riconoscimento dei titoli di studio e delle competenze professionali in vista dell'inserimento lavorativo;
2) attività culturali, formative ed editoriali di vario genere volte the dissemination of culture in Algeria in particular and Arabs in general to come, from these, to a better mutual understanding and effective integration / interaction between citizens of different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Among the initiatives planned, there is one on which the association will strive particularly in its first year of life: the organization of cultural and linguistic exchanges (such as responsible tourism, language courses, study and research and more) with a view to greater cultural and social development of Algeria too, not just the creation of new and alternative employment opportunities (for young people and families) on the spot, with the hope that experience in Algeria to serve as a model for trade with other countries and other realities.
