Gli scrittori di questo periodo modero e contemporaneo sanno sperimentare, acquista notevole importanza anche il romanzo pedagogico.
Il genere che ha maggiore importanza tra l'800 e il 900 è l'autobiografia, tanti autori seguono questo genere. Si da importanza anche alla decrizione dell'ambito rurale e contadino ( esempio Taha Husein).
